The Early Dance Circle is a Registered Charity based in the UK. We are operated and run by volunteers on behalf of the community of practitioners (both enthusiasts and professionals) who promote our nation’s common dancing heritage.
If you would like to support our work, we’d encourage you to do so by becoming a member of the EDC, and contributing to our shared community. The benefits of membership include the various events our committee organises every year, access to our website, receipt of our Circular three times a year, together with the latest early dance news. We encourage you to find and support your local performance group; social dancing is great fun, why not give it a go?
Perhaps you would like to start a new group in your local area? Do please contact us, we’ll offer you our full support, and access to our resources and experts.
You can also support our work by volunteering your assistance, either to the EDC, or to a local group in your area. Perhaps you can take photographs, edit videos, contribute to our Circulars or Conferences or Festivals, play early music, advise on historical context and costumes, contribute to our education work or website, etc.. Keen supporters may like to consider standing for our administrative committee which meets on Zoom six times a year.

The EDC sell a range of publications that might be of interest to you. Sales contribute to our ongoing work.
If you own copies of specialist dance-history books, research notes, and similar, that are no longer needed, do consider donating them to our own library at Kellogg College, University of Oxford, the NRCHD. If you are lucky enough to own original (copyright expired) dance-history source material, do consider scanning or photographing what you have and sharing it with the wider community. You can contact secretary@earlydancecircle.co.uk for assistance in this.
If you would like to support us financially, that will be much appreciated. Legacies and bequests have been a major help in allowing us to continue to do our work. Any legacy or bequest would be gratefully received and acknowledged, as are donations of intellectual property (the copyrights on historical dance music, videos, books, etc.). You can also contribute to us directly through the PayPal button below, the donation box at our events, or contact our Treasurer for further donation options ( treasurer@earlydancecircle.co.uk ). Your donations are used to support our Awards, Grants and Bursaries projects, and for our ambitious programme of ongoing activities.
Finally, on behalf of our committee and membership, thank you!
