Announcing a Celebration of Weaver’s early opera The Loves of Mars and Venus

Mars_Venus_cambridge1In 1717, dancer and choreographer John Weaver devised this early opera to weave together narrative, gesture and French dance for the English stage, showcasing the ballerina Hester Santlow as Venus. This play tells the story of his struggle and success. With Darcy Bussell as its Ambassador, we are promised a beautiful and thought-provoking set of performances.
