MEDIEVAL DANCE: RE-DISCOVERY, RE-IMAGINATION, RECREATION
On Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at 7 pm GMT, The Historical Dance Society is offering an online event that addresses some of our questions about early dance. What happens when you don’t have any written instructions for dance? What can we use and how reliable is it?
Do we have established assumptions or ingrained perceptions that could be challenged?

Charlotte Ewart will explore what we do know, what we think we know and what we could do with that knowledge. Charlotte will look at iconography, music and descriptions from primary sources – Manuscript du Roi and Tounoi de Chauvency in particular. and explore the period before written choreography to bring Medieval Dance to life.
