2022, Dances and Dancers, Prestigious London Balls c.1800-1820

The late 18th and early 19th centuries experienced a publishing boom, London’s music and dance culture were documented as never before. Numerous anecdotal reports of society balls were published offering a glimpse into the lifestyles of the nobility and gentry; some of those reports listed the dances that were enjoyed, this paper will review what we can learn from such references.
