Some basic notes on European dance between the 15th and 19th centuries: The notes deal with dramaturgy, music and, as a focus, dance technique. With regard to dance technique, iconographic sources are systematically included in the research. When looking at the pictures, special attention is paid to the depiction of the feet. The foot positions indicate different types of weight transfer during locomotion. From this, movement patterns can be derived that have clear expressions of affect.
The lecture deals with 6 of these affect contrasts.
Carrying out these model movement sequences has an amazing side effect. Without intending to, you have the impression of slipping into the skin of an animal.
